So I have been reefing for over 25 years. I had my fair share of sizes of tanks from nanos to monster 500 gallons. I serviced tanks worked in an aquarium doing husbandry and helped many friends through the years setup tanks. A few years ago, I had a wonderful pit bull named Roxy who was the love of my life. She shared the same living quarters as me and along with my tank, supplies, and equipment. I got very ill one year and everyone thought it was my tank causing problems. I scoffed at them and there was no way my tank was making me sick. Then a year after that my lil Roxy got lymphoma. Now I began to wonder. Maybe it was the tank, the countless cords, electricity flowing through the room...so I scrapped my beloved tank. Sadly she still succumbed to the cancer and I was still sick with no cure. I still regret getting rid of that tank to this day.

I have been yearning for a new tank for years now and I just haven't had the time nor the money to buy one and keep up. I service and help friends and that keeps my love for reefing intact. But I want one of my own now to clean and maintenance, water change and feed, service and aquascape.

Herein lies the question. I have really been eying the new Innovative Marine Shallow Reef systems since I like the simplicity and shallow depth design. It is either that or a Red Sea Max....Do any of you fantastic reefers have any suggestions on an All-in-one system? I appreciate the help and taking the time to read my rambles....

I cant speak for the innovative shallow reef system personally. I do have the innovative 8g tank and I love it. My wife and I are already planning on buying the 38gallon innovative tank this Christmas.

I was also looking at the 38 gallon. I really love the IM tanks. I wanted something middle of the road for size like the 60, or 80. Just so on the fence with what to get. Thank you for your feedback mrcoffee and now I want a cup of joe!

Red sea max look great work great but if you put tank up against a wall you cant get at it to clean all fitration in back built in not a good design IMO

That was my initial question as well. I want to be able to approach the back and service while still having it as close to the wall as possible. This is why I was leaning a little more toward IM as it looks like you can get to it.
