Hope your all enjoying your weekend. We had left thursday morning to go camping till sunday and lone behold my skimmer was off. I took it out and banged on it and nothing. Everything powered up but nothing. It's a simplicity dc120 and relatively inexpensive. I'm soaking it in a bucket of vinegar and water over the weekend. If it works, great. If not I have to buy another one.
I usually get about 1/2 inch of skimmate per day so I hope everything isn't green when I get back.
It has a small footprint so I really don't know what will fit. I'd rather not buy the same one again. It's a 60 cube with a cube pro clear freedom series sump. Any suggestions are welcome as for a replacement

When my skimmer doesn’t kick on I blow into the air intake valve and it starts right up. I have Eshoops120

This is my first time away from my tank since I plugged it in January 17,, I’m praying there is no power outage as I haven’t gotten a battery backup system yet. I turned my protein skimmer off at 11am today and I’ll be home by 12 Sunday afternoon, so I should be ok, but having hard time not stressing about my tank and all critters,,20 fish 12-14 seahorses

Sorry 10 fish not 20

I looked at them online but got more confused the more I looked. It's like trying to pick out cereal
Hey, just came across your thread. I too have the pro clear cube and having a hard time finding a skimmer that fits. What did you end up getting?

Hey, I actually called the company "simplicity" even though I had the skimmer a little over a year. They sent me a new controller and motor for free. I'd say that was great service. So good I bought the 320 for my new 180 build. And I'd have to say awesome skimmers

My proclear is the freedom series, is yours the same?
Yep freedom 4 in 1 100 series. So you’re using the simplicity 120DC? Here is a pic of my sump, it’s the 16x16x16 cube. The newer cubes have different colors but I believe similar dimensions.

For some reason, the Simplicity skimmers do not come back on after you unplug them, you push the buttons, so make sure you see if come on and not just think it should come on. Simplicity C/S is very good, they answer their phone, how many other companies do that?

Good to know, thanks!

That might not be a bad thing, I always worry when on Vacation that my skimmer will overflow and then the top off will dilute the Salinity

Both my 120 and 320dc skimmers turn back on to the power you previously had set after being unplugged

The only thing I recommend is cutting down the plastic line holders that are under the water line. My 120 fits but if that wasn't there it would be a breeze taking it in and out

I moded the cup with a hose back into tank in case it overflowed. The cup is so big if it bubbles through the top it can spit water all over. Second mod is small wood clamped next to fuge for light spillage, fuge is too small. Third is plastic netting from the fuge to the foam block for keeping the sea lettuce or cheato in that chamber

I just noticed from your picture is your hose may have to be routed differently to make room for your skimmer

That’s a 3ft hose that came with it, I have a 2ft one in the mail and a bunch of plumbing pieces. Thanks for the mod ideas I’m probably going to go with this skimmer.
