Once a week skimming

I have a somewhat oversize skimmer for my bio cube. I have cut back feeding coral to once a week and only have two clown fish in the tank. Would it be acceptable to only mount and run the skimmer after a heavy feeding? I would like to do this on different days between office and home tank until I buy another skimmer.

That thing looks like a jet engine on a Prius.
I'd run it one or two days a week. Look into the tunze skimmers.

Man I run the cheapo Biocube one and it works great!

No problem. In fact with a timer you could run it every-other day, or just a few hours every day.
