One fish sick in qt, dt is currently fallow

HELP I’m pretty sure one of my clowns has brook. The others seem completely fine but I’m worried it will spread; not that I don’t love the sick fish but I have a super tiny clown with it that has the cutest markings and I’d be devastated if it died (I already lost my fav clown in that tank due to bullying and getting stuck between the filter and the glass last week ).

Is there any way to prevent this without setting up another tank? He’s currently in a breeder box in the tank. Also I’m in Canada so I can’t get any of the copper/medicines you guys usually recommend

My dt has been fallow for about a month (pretty sure due to brook) so I’m assuming it’s from that

It makes me nervous that the little one loves being by the breeder box so much, can it get sick from being that close?

also pic of the other clown from a while ago, it decided to host a measuring cup I had put in the qt while waiting on new decor and I didn’t have the heart to take it away

Its hard to separate and medicate without a separate tank

Of course you could use a small plastic bin to make a super cheap QT tank! Any news about the clown as of late? Make sure he/she are eating!

I’m not even sure I’d be able to medicate seeing as there aren’t any available in Canada (as far as I know). He looks fine and was eating fine this afternoon, hopefully it will fight it off but idk

i just noticed it today so it must be in the early stages

Id recommend this food as well.. have heard and seen for myself this particular food help fight off sickness with good water quality too!

If it is brook there is a strong possibility that the other clowns have it. Ruby Reef Rally PRO is available on Amazon.CA that is able to treat Brook. It is kind of pricy though.

Also, a rule of thumb is to have one pair of clownfish per tank; it is very hard to keep more than two pairs in the same tank since they will fight/bully. In my experience, having more than 2 in a tank will not work; they always end up killing/bullying the outcast to death until there are only two left to make a pair.

He is looking completely fine today. While I’m happy about it I’m also a bit confused. If it was brook can it clear up that fast? If not what else could it have been if it looked similar?

Usually, in my experience, fish don't really clear up at all without medication. They can live with it for some time until the pathogen has multiplied enough to overwhelm the fish's immune system.

However, both your pictures above show no brook. Your clownfish appear to be perfectly healthy and fine. It'd be nice to have close up pictures, so we can verify that it is brook. Remember brook looks like it has a thick slime coating on the clownfish.

Those weren’t the sick ones, I’ll take a pic of him tomorrow! It doesn’t look that extreme but I put ended up putting him in his own qt tank. It’s only one small line of whiteness and a little bit of whiteness on its fins. Honestly it might just be from other fish since he likes to bug them but I don’t want to take any chances

If it's brook then all fish need to be removed and treated and the tank sits without fish and no cross contamination from hands or equipment for 6 weeks.

You can treat brook with peroxide dips which be found at a drug store for a dollar or two.
