it started a small desk project, people say it can’t Be done, in fact I did it, I had a prefectly healthy growing reef, unfortunately it crashed 2 months ago and I had to restart and add new rock but it’s been doing even better as of late and hopefully my project will turn out successful I’ll post pictures starting from when it started to current setup (current is coraline covered glass)

This was my first tank as well I started by throwing a chunk of talapia in every week and cranking up the temp to 82, but here’s a brief history of the setup: I didn’t have any test kits, when the ammonia smell went away I knew it was cycled, my first livestock was a gsp frag (dead) and an astrea snail (also dead) if you look at my old thread (1g nano reef) you can see the process, my biggest challenge is keeping demanding sps corals from stning or rtning, the tank will occasionally drop to 70 degrees if I forget to turn the heater on when I leave for work, I also never did water changes and dosed kalkwasser, (I’m doing water changes now as it proves more beneficial) as well as run carbon, the two tetra filters are gutted, and the refugium is filled with two species of chaetomorpa and caulerpa prolifera. The refugium is not wrapped in black tape now because the LED strip grow lights burnt out, I think it looks cool without it, but my tanks not about presentation (as you could probally tell) it is about keeping things alive and healthy, so I just ordered more strip Lights, which btw grow macroalge like it’s no one’s business, I’ve thrown in seriatopora (dead) several montipora (also dead) and I currently have a stylo and a monti, as well as several soft corals, a trochus snail (which is nearly as old as the tank itself) and an astrea snail, my rocks are staring to get covered by various coraline species and I couldn’t be happier.
