I am finishing up gathering the equipment for my 40 gallon nuvo which has been running for four and a half months. I am planning on making this a mixed reef tank, but I will be mostly focusing on BTAs, SPS, and clams. Currently I have one kessil A160 over the tank and was planning on getting another one, but I was unexpectedly gifted two GBTAs from a fellow reefer and I put them in this tank and they are quite happy with just that one kessil. My question is even thought the BTAs are happy with one kessil, do I need to buy a 2nd one if I want to keep clams and SPS? Any help is appreciated:)

You'll definitely want to get a secon one to prevent shadowing on the edges and get the coverage you need. :)

I’m a firm believer in having more. You can always turn them down as needed but you can not get more out of an already maxed out piece of equipment. Case in point I have a 30” tank and am using a lighting fixture with 3 pucks and a total of 60 diodes.
