back in 2007 I set up a 29 gallon mixed reef tank with a pair of clownfish. It did pretty well for about a year. Then I had to move. I tore the tank down and got rid of the livestock. In 2013 I decided to give it another go. I set the 29 gallon back up and over 6 to 8 months I added 10 or so corals. I was seeing growth and all was good. I decided I wanted a larger tank and bought a used 65 gallon. As I was making plans and buying equipment for the larger tank my 29 had a major crash and I lost all corals. I t was my own stupidity allowing by ro/di unit to top off my tank and then forgot to turn it off. I tore the tank down again. Now three years later I am going to try again. This time I will set up the 65 and use the 29 for quarantine. I just joined r2r. Thought I would introduce myself.

I want to do a mixed with a few fish. I want mostly lps with a few of the easier sps., and also some zoas, a few shrooms and leathers. I would like to do the goby shrimp combo but not sure I want that much sand. Still thinking about that one. I have always loved clownfish so there is a good chance I will go with a pair of ocellaris.

What equipment are you thinking about? Lighting has changed the most in the last few years. Is your 65 gallon rimless or does it have a plastic frame?

Reef ready glass tank with plastic frame and center overflow. I plan on trying Herbie overflow for the first time. Lights are ATI 8x 39 watts. Return pump is a mag 9.5. Getting a new skimmer. Leaning toward a octopus 110 or 150 with a smaller footprint I think they are sss or something like that. I have a 20 gallon long that I will use for sump.

Yes the 110 is good with the size sump you are dealing with. You have a total height of 19" So remember that when selecting a stand.
Are you planning to dose Calcium, Alk and Mag.?
