.... Acans in the hobby.

Catching some sweet blues around the outter ring

I would get those acans and they would be the prettiest thing in my tank for a few weeks and then all of the sudden they would just melt and die, thus breaking my heart like all the other acans I have had haha I can keep Acropora and other finicky corals but not acans for some reason.

I feel you there. My favorite corals are Acans, and for the life of me when I switched to this tank, they just melt away. I have waited over a year since my crash to try any. The ones I have now are simple frags and have been alive for about 2 months now... Keeping my fingers crossed.

I feel you there, they are my favorite coral. When I had my biocube every Acan I bought flourished, moved to a bigger tank, and everyone I buy looks great for a few months to melt away to nothing.

The current ones I have I bought a couple months back. This was after I lost every coral except 2 and rebooted the tank with new LR and new sand. Fingers crossed they make it.....

Good luck! I will be trying a few colonies in my next tank, it will hopefully have a bit more depth so I can place them in lower lighting

Those are really nice. Personally I’m with ya on them being underrated and my favorites as well they take front and center in everyone of my tanks!

I have a worry that my Acan which was doing really well on the sand (budding) has started to melt when I placed it ever so slightly above the sand (maybe 1-2"). Is that possible?

Its a 10 gallon nuvo w/a jessie a80 running at around 70/80% power for 10 hours a day

Absolutely love my acans

Love when they are super inflated during the day. Its amazing how far the polyps can extend
