So, my son woke me up at 5:15 saying "there's a beeping nose downstairs". I thought I must have forgotten to put water in the coffee pot for this morning. Wrong!

The return line split a piece of tubing and no water was getting back into the tank. The beeping nose was the alarm on the heater going off letting me know the water was over 81.

Quick assessment, the water was over 81 in the sump because the pump was still running, the heater was off. Pulled the tubing and inspected, there's clearly a spot in the wall of the tubing that caused the split.

Powerhead still circulating water in the tank. Moved the heater to the display. Of course I don't have any extra tubing, I'll have to grab some from the store and make a quick repair this morning before my day actually starts.

Let's hope it doesn't turn into one of those days...

Good luck. I think a lot of us have gotten up in the morning to find issues with the tank that make for a bad start to the day. I have a spare bedroom and a fair part of my garage dedicated to 'spare' equipment and parts and tools for the aquarium. Even a flip top box full of flexible hose of various sizes.

I wouldn't think you will have to much fall out from what happened. All the tank "knows" is that you forgot to turn your return pump back on for a few hours. Good luck!

I was amazed that I didn't have any hose laying around. I had 1" and 1.25", but if course I needed about a 6in piece of 3/4".

Everything is back up and running. I even took an extra 10 min to clean the return pump.

I just have to move the heater back down to the sump once I let everything run for 15min or so.
