About to setup a 100G, would I be better going with 1x Maxspect XF250 (5300gph) or 2x Maxspect XF230 (2300gph)?

Depends how you plan to orient them. I have an older 150 on my 150gal vertical and I feel I need a little more flow for my sps but it is a 6ft tank

I always like more pumps, you can always change the flow up from different directions and run them less than 100%. I like having options.

I have two 280 gyres for my 240 gallon.. Absolutely love them. I'm running alternating gyre with forward at 20 percent and reverse at 40 percent which is the most my fish will handle without hiding in the rockwork to keep out of the current. It moves practically all the water and I almost have zero dead spots. Very happy customer here..

Maxspect is a great product but in my opinion, nothing moves water like the gyres.

With the exception of one aqueon powerhead to keep a constant flow behind my rock work, the gyres are all I have in my tank

I have the maxpect xf250 with the new controller and just received the second pump, can't wait to install it. The one does a good job but two with the new controller on my 180 6' will be perfect. I look forward to seeing how it works on alternating gyre mode, or the lunar tidal cycle.
Don't think just get them lol[emoji2]
