One slip causes issues

Today I went to feed my recently aquired acan, beautiful little frag.
Well I took out my frozen DIY food which consists of shrimp, clams and scallops, I have enough cubes to feed my fish for a year so taking a cube for my corals is of no real issue.
Well when I make this recipe I have to be careful because I am allergic to shrimp. After handling the cube like a nub I had an itch and I rubbed my eyes.
5 minutes later my eyes looked like a Sith lords red eyes lol
The things we do for the hobby, I tell ya lol
But this little guy was happy

We are brothers from another mother.

I'm severely allergic to anything shellfish based.

If it's in frozen form and I touch my eye, bam, my eye with swell SHUT for 8-12hrs.

If in powder form, like ReefRoids, if I breath it in, I'm wheezing for 2-4 hours.

I would say I have a mild reaction, irritation prob once a week even if I immediately wash my hands

I have same issue. Wash face or better- a shower stops it right away for me

Yikes, growing up I used to eat shrimp cocktail by the dozen. One Christmas party at work about 10 years ago I had shrimp cocktail and I basically lost my voice. Since that time if I eat them I get a tingling bottom lip so nothing too severe. Sounds like you need a good pair of tweezers/forceps to feed your acans so it doesn’t look like you smoked a bone.

Holy cow, I'm not alone!!!
I thought I would be all by myself regarding shell fish allergies!!!
Well, we do have alot more in common than the love of reefs lol

Wow you guys, please please please keep some epipens or speak to your doctors and get some if you're that allergic. Allergic reactions can get worse with repeat exposure for some people, and angioedema or a restricted airway is no joke!

So, I never realized this was a thing.

Why don't all of you who are allergic to shellfish just swap the shrimp out some type of white fish?

Not a bad idea. Use the fake crab. Turbot I think is the fish that is used.
