One spot foxface in 93 gallon cube?

Ok I am dealing with bubble algae like no bodies business and I know foxface do eat it. But they require 70 gallons or more. Now my cube 93 gallons but sadly is only 30x30x24. So it is not the 4 foot or longer tank. The one spot is the smaller of the bunch. But I also dont want to make I miserable with such a short distance to swim or do you think it is fine? The pic below is of my tank to give you a feel of the rock scape. Otherwise I was thinking and urchin? I dont know, what do you guys think?

I’ve got one in a 10g qt right now. He’s only
About 1.5” long and seems perfectly content grazing his algae clip.

I’ve got a 6’ tank, but only 18” wide. If he outgrows it, it shouldn’t be hard to find him a new home.

Definitely no Foxface in there. Even a 4 foot long tank is pushing it for the One Spot (I have one in my 4 foot long 90 gallon). A shame too as they are great bubble algae eaters.

They grow really fast. I would not put one in a cube, even if it is a 93 gal cube.

There is an online vendor, cannot think of the name for the life of me, they have emeralds guaranteed to eat bubble algae or your money back. It is one of the ones that does the cleaner packs.

Already noted by many but they get big. Overall length and size will be years but there is that initial burst from 1 - 2" to 4 - 5" within a year. That initial growth comes on fast then seems to slow down. Emerald crabs are a good suggestion. Also if not many you can get some shoulder length gloves and manually remove them (gloves to keep your hands out of the tank).

Thanks for the advice everyone. I figured as much and I dont want to stress a fish to death or anything. I want one but not if that means its risking hurting it. I will look into other stuff. Thank you all again!

It will outgrow the tank quite quickly if you feed it well. For a One Spot Foxface I would only put one in a tank that’s at least a 4-foot, 110-120 gallon tank, the width and height should be at least 2 foot. 5 foot in length is more ideal for the OSF, and I’d only feel comfortable putting a Foxface Lo or the larger Foxface species (many of which get too big for 90% of us) in tanks 6 foot and longer.

You could do a dwarf angel, but maybe not a Foxface or a Tang.

I have a one spot foxface in my 150 gallon 6’ tank. Grew faster than any other fish I’ve ever seen. About 7” now, but I must say it’s not a very active swimmer, more like a slow lazy fat fish. He’s very chill, he could probably do fine in a cube tank like yours. I know this is just a sample of one.

If you need 100 snails, you really have too much nutrients.
My tank is a 320, I have a Yellow, Purple and Powder Blue tangs in it, and maybe 15 snails. I also have 3 sea urchins. That is all I need for algae control.
I have a lot of fish and feed them a lot.

I would get 1 or 2 algae eating fish and forget the snails. 90 gallon cube is plenty of room for the vast majority of fish.

fwiw...I have 120g with 1 snail and 2 hermit crabs.
