To all you people who buy fish online, which retailers do you use? My LFS doesn't seem to be as good as they were when I first started going to them and the rest of the ones around me are pretty far away. I'm getting my 180 back up and running and I would like to find a place that I can trust more than my current LFS. I still QT but I hate getting fish home and having them die.

Also, I typically don’t buy from them any more. They have two banks of tanks connected to two different systems and they almost always have multiple dead fish in both systems. I’ll go in there to check out the frags every now and again and pretty much steer clear of the fish. Idk if they changed vendors or something but a couple years ago it was incredibly rare to see a dead fish in that store. Over the last year you see multiple every time. Hell, I went there twice this weekend to pick up some things and the 2nd day just to see what they got in their shipment and the same dead fish was in the same spot it was from the day before

That's disheartening to hear. Especially when you don't have alternative LFS to shop around at. I have a similar situation in my area. I have one good LFS (prices on fish are high though) and that's it. The other closest one has gone downhill big time. I have yet to order any animals online so I'm also eager to hear the replies here.

Ordinary everyday fish
WWC fish direct. Right now better than Live Aquaria, better guarantee. I think it's drop shipped but it's WWC custom packaging, healthy specimen and any problems they send replacement. Also price is decent.
Strikers reefing, fully quarantined extra charge fishes.
TSM Aquatics fully quarantined healthy specimen. Sometimes expensive, sometime decent.
Saw Red Sea Desjardini for 159 sale.
Saw firefish, regular kind for 79 dollars .
High end I deal with Eric Cohen. Among the reef.
Why
He is little enthusiastic, will deal with my stupid demands, questions and haggling.
This is my goto
And yes since I am in NY, NY aquatics is 2 hrs away.
I will ask Mike and go pickup fish.
10 years ago I had bad experience with fish shipped.
But now Mike treats me with respect, gives me amazing price, healthy eating specimen.

there was a post I found that was about a year old and almost everyone was saying dr reef. Is that still a good option as far as you are aware? This is why I’ve wanted to start a new thread to see if anything changed. As far as NY aquatics, did he get better all around or does he treat you better than other customers?

10 years ago, maybe I was a noob and was being a brat. Maybe he was having a bad day.
It was shipped now I deal face to face.
Yes Dr reef is good too. I tried to order with him year ago. He was busy or something else going on. Wasn't returning phone calls etc.
There was a thread about it. He explained he will sort it out and be back.
During this time I made friends with these vendors.
But he is legit. You might have to wait a few weeks.
TSM is in-stock or 2 weeks completion for quarantine, WWC is in stock only and Phillipe from Strikers is also in stock.
So less wait, buy today recieve within 6 days.
Yeah But add Dr reef to the list. I never dealt with him.
Plus depends what you want.

Heard some good and bad stuff about Ny Aquatics. My buddy was ordering and wanted me to go in so we could split shipping. Order came in, purple tang was supposed to be 2-3" for $100. So sure, sounds like a great deal. It arrived 5-6" and super fat/healthy looking. Eating flakes the second day in my tank. Definitely will try them again.
