Anyone have good vendors they would like to share with me for quality fish. I am not thrilled with LA's fish they send out. Looking for options that take more time with the health of the fish....maybe one that actually feeds their fish.

I’ve had good luck with LA and LA Diver’s Den.

Other online retailers I’ve seen listed from other members here are Fishy Business, BlueZoo, NY Aquatics, and Saltwaterfish.com.

I haven’t used any but LA or Diver’s Den just giving some others for you to look into.

I recently made a purchase with Fishy Business Aquatics. Have good pricing and selection. About 70% of my fish order made it. Lost a small McCosker's, lyretail, and Brunneus wrasse. The McCoskers was small (1"), and the wrasses did come in thin, which is why I think the brunneus ultimately didn't make it. Also ordered a Sailfin Wrasse, which is slowly starting to fatten up. All-in-all not bad, but probably not the level of quality you'd get out of DD or LA.

I would (and have) contact Humblefish Aquatics as he provides qt'd fish that eat. It a reasonable price for the condition you get healthy fish in. You have to be patient but well worth it in my opinion.

Contact Ora Farm and get the name of a dealer they ship to. They don't breed everything but what they do have an excellent selection of aquacultured fish that they are known for.

You can call them at 772-468-7008.
Thanks for the tip!

Also maybe I have to lower my expectations. I was in the pet industry in the 90's and the quality of marine fish back then, compared to today, is shocking. I dont understand why the industry doesnt demand better methods and conditions for the fish. I would rather pay $10 more to have actually healthy fish. I dont care about the free refunds.....I hate to see all these fish die. Its just another reason why our industry gets a bad rap.

Thanks for the tip!

My LFS orders their clowns from them.
Thanks for the tip!

I am in South Florida and my LFS receives their delivery from Ora on Fridays. The manager suggested that I pickup any fish from Ora on the same day the fish is delivered to his store and he will keep it in the original bag it is shipped in and not place it with fish in a store tank. This will remove a level of cross contamination that could possibly come from other fish in the store. ;)

The quality of fish most online fish retailers provide will be roughly equal since most of them are just drop shipping from one of a limited number of wholesalers. The difference is the customer service provided by each retail outlet.

There are some online vendors that do actually receive the fish prior to shipping to the customer. Humblefish, Divers Den, and NY Aquatics are some examples. These vendors may provide a higher quality fish if they condition the fish prior to selling them and/or take care only to ship the best specimens.

I can say from personal experience that Humblefish provides livestock that is vastly superior to any other vendor I have used.

Great info. I will look into them. It’s pretty sad that most are just a middle man that don’t take any measures to improve fish keeping standards.

I just picked up 2 beautiful Gladiators that ORA shipped to my LFS yesterday. I took them home in their original plastic shipping bags the same day they arrived.
