Online order acclimation

You will want to temp acclimate the bag and match your QT tank to the salinity of the bag.
If you don’t have a QT tank then you’ll want to temp acclimate and then drop the fish in the tank

As james stated - temp acclimate first in the bag, then over the next hour add water from your tank into bag about a cup every 15 minutes. Then dump fish into tank. Vendor might include acclimation instructions or have a link on their website.

Welcome to R2R!

Good suggestions above. Follow the on-line store's instructions.... If you have access to a fish trap / box... that could help you too. That would allow you to seperate the fish from other inhabitants and allow you to keep a close eye on it....for a few days... What size is your tank? How old? Any other tangs or aggressive fish in it?

When you add your fish to the tank, lower the lights down and try to distract other fish with some food...

Good Luck! They are great fish!

So what I do when we have fish come in is to put the fish in a 5 gallon bucket with a small heater and air stone using the water from the bags the fish came in. You will want to add some Prime as well to detoxify any ammonia build up. You can either add water like mentioned above, or you can setup a drip line using air hosing. If you use the air hosing, you will want to tie a simple knot in it. You will want to tighten it enough to drip around 4 drops per second. After a few hours, test the salinity. If everything matches up alright, then use a net, small bowl, etc. and move the fish to your QT system.
