Wasn't but 7yrs ago, very respected Members on a different worldwide reef board all CONCURRED that:
"blue actinic light was for your-eyes-only" and had LITTLE TO NOTHING to do with coral growth.
Oh @Dana Riddle where was your great mind to set those Members straight circa 2012 ????
Oooooh my have times have changed with LED research and light spectrum research
I couldn't imagine growing certain corals based on White Light being the key lighting component.
White Light is just the entire UV to Red light spectrum coming into your eyes all at once.
Interesting chart:
Isn't throwing the entire visible light spectrum (white light) at corals pretty much like saying, "hey honey, you hungry? Let me put the entire fridge full of food we have, put it in a blender and make ya soup "
Since LED research mainstreamed...I'm heavy on the UV 390nm to Bright Blue 460nm spectrum....Ive custom built various LED diodes: 390s, 420s, 460s as my main light CORAL POWER PUNCH
I have a "splash" of green and red for full spectrum BUT my tank LOOKS mostly Blue from the heavy 390nm to 460nm light Ive chosen to blast.
"Blue actinic light is for your-eyes-only"....oh my have things changed
