Hello! I have recently set up a saltwater aquarium (going to be a reef tank one day) but I need some advice. I bought some beautiful live rock from my lfs, brought it home, rinsed it in a bucket of premade saltwater... but..... apparently not well enough. I was moving my rocks around (hopefully for the last time) and dislodged a LOT of plant debris. My question: is there anything in particular that would be great at eating this stuff? I am trying to remove as much as possible but I know there is plenty mixed up in the sand bed at this point. I have one nassarius snail left (there were 3) and a few hermits - but is there something better suited to the job?

I suppose I could've made this much shorter - is there a saltwater detrivore better suited for dead plant matter?

Thanks for any response!

Any pictures of what your dealing with? I would tend to say just vacuum out what you can when doing water changes and make sure you have lots of flow to keep waste suspended in water column for easy removal by your filtration.

BTW.. Welcome to R2R!! :) Be sure to say hello in the meet and greet section.

I will! I am still working on the right amount of flow. I am going to get some other pumps. It seems I have 1 weak one and 1 that is way too strong. (That's what happens when you use what's lying around)
