I recently purchased a very nice green/purple wellsophyllia. I have him placed out of direct light and out of direct current and he appears to be thriving. His tissue is completely sprawled out on the sandbed so to speak and has fantastic color. I am using DT's phyto a couple times a week for the other coral i have. besides that and the regular brine/mysis/flake i feed my other fish, should i be direct feeding him anything? Took the picture with just the actinics on.

I do target feed my Open Brain's at least twice a week and I use San Francisco Bay Products - Sand Eels. Mind you it'll take a while for this coral to grab the food as they're sometimes are slow to grab their hand fed food.

I'd use a pair of tweezers but be careful though. I usually place the food (if you can figure out where it's mouth is) in the center of the mouth and let it slowly grab the food. That really depends if you have fish or shrimp that might grab the food and I did it my way 'cuz of the fish.

When I had one I used to feed it Jubmo Krill.. 1 or 2 pieces depending on how many it wanted to eat. It got to big so I had to sell it.

i just chop up some stuff from the supermarket and feed that to my fish and corals.
shrimp, scallop, clam, squid, ....put it all in a food processor and then freeze it flat in ziplocks.
here is a food thread of mine-

it's much cleaner for your tank to use fresh frozen foods instead of store bought stuff, and cheaper.
on occasion i'd use the LFS foods as a supplement, but i would rinse it out thoroughly.
most of the time i just use the fresh stuff.

Mouth full of food... first time feed.

Just bought this green open brain coral last saturday. At first it was under direct light and after reading about care i moved it to a shaded area and it flourished.

Now its the first time feeding.....
