All water parameters where they should be. I've watched the tank for hours and no sign of a fish picking on it. I chopped a shrimp and it ate some of it. I have moved it around the tank and it doesn't open anywhere. It also looks like it is starting to decay on one side. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Starting to decay is a bad sign. Once they get damaged its hard to recover. I'd move it to lower light, lower flow and keep hermits, shrimp, fish, etc. away from it. Try not to move it around and keep it away from sharp rocks and such.

What's the best way to keep everything away should I cover it with something?

I have rechecked all my parameters and they all are fine. Today he puffed up until my lights turned on. Then he immediately began to retract (I attached before and after photos).

I have 2 oceanrevive artic t247 and I run them at 60% is that too strong?

Decay is bad, but is it possible this is a wellso and this is its normal position? I am somewhat of a noob so forgive me I am learning by asking dumb questions.

Honestly I'm not sure the lfs where I puschaced him said he would open up and lay flat but I believe he was mistaken. I am a noob as well and just trying to soak it all in. If any one is willing to school us noobs we would appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

Can you post your water parameters to give everyone a better idea of what is "all fine"?

Maybe it just my eyes...but I don't see anything that looks bad...can you get a pic of the dead/decay spot...otherwise it looks fine to me.

I will get a better shot once I get home. This is just a zoomed in screenshot until I can get a better picture. Maybe I am just making something of nothing.

It looks OK to me. I feed mine raw shrimp, about 1/4 in.piece. (every 3 days) try to keep your alk around 9. They start to shrink up and receed around 7 and less, for me. They take a few days to settal in. they dont like to be touched and moved around. Its real easy to damage them.

Is that new? Looks like it might be an old injury and is nothing to worry about unless its progressing...coral looks good to me.

Yes glad to hear anything other than decay! The spot is new but I would attribute the tear to me moving it around the tank trying to find it a happy home. I will still send my water parameters and a better pic when I get home. Thanks again to you all!

It should heel up if your water is good?. Keep an eye on the bad spot for brown jelly. May be get some iodine to have on hand just incase. But for now let it be.
