so my LFS has a Jason Fox open brain (cant remember which one but its pretty) and im doing research on them to decide if my 1 gallon bowl can sustain one or not. the only issue im finding is its supposedly stings other corals.

question is simple, how long does its sweepers tend to get? do they stay short, or grow long?

Open brain is almost a generic term. Without knowing which coral you are asking about. It is not easy to answer. 1 gallon is not a lot for most LPS corals over a long term.

after searching for a few minutes it was a Trachyphyllia and I know long term its way too small, but ill be setting up another larger reef in the coming months. im more concerned about it being in such a tight area with other corals if its too aggressive

To be clear, you're talking about a trach like this one?

I'm not aware of these being notorious for stinging, but I do wonder about keeping it happy in such a tight space. They like to inflate a bit, and so a 1 gallon tank might be tough if you have anything else in there...but if you think you have the real estate, I guess it could work...it's hard to say without seeing the tank you're planning to put it in. What other inhabitants are there (fish, inverts)?

yeah, but its a small one. single mouth but fully healed. ive got plenty of room right now but if I added that, it would be in the back portion of the tank and would be the main focus point with nothing but a couple duncans and some zoas. no fish, but there will be a few sexy shrimp and MAYBE a pom pom crab. all the info you could want on my tank is in my build thread in my sig. wish I could make it clickable... not sure why it isn't.

the 1 gallon bowl is very stable. even PH and salinity is stable. my only concern is aggressiveness and if it will eat my shrimp lol. I love the coral and while this tiny tank is stable, im not willing to put coral at risk just because I want it. if its aggressive it wont go in, if it has a chance of overgrowing and suffocating my other coral, it wont go in. my light is good enough for the coral, and I think my flow is. its hard to determine flow when youre using an air pump (any tips on figuring that out)
