Long story short... yes [emoji33] . I added some in my 120 when I was a newbie. I broke that tank down due to life circumstances but knew I would get another tank asap so the livestock was all being fostered for me. That tank was up for over a decade, I am amazed some survived. Most are just hermit homes now.

I don't mind a Bumble Bee or two. I have one in mine. I was just wondering if rock from the "Gulf" had hitchhiking Bumble Bees..... because that would be odd.

I'm thinking about keeping one or two of the red mithrax crabs. They are cousins of emeralds so they are mostly reef safe if not too hungry. I'm thinking of putting a male and female back in. The larvae are great boosts to the zooplankton.Shame they are the 'bad guys' cause they are so darn cute

Sometimes what can work well in catching critters in putting the rocks on eggcrate in the bucket, that is risen off the bottom. Then bait the bottom. It's not a trap, it's just encourages them to come out of hiding from the shelter of the rock.

So phase one failed. A glimpse of the Target was officially spotted at 17:50 emerging from a rock in the tub. He was alerted to the surveillance team and retreated before further measures could be taken. Initial reports indicate a large network of makeshift tunnels in the rock work formed from shell and gravel that have been glued together with a biological adhesive. There are likely many trap doors and sealed off cavities in these labyrinths. This may result in a long drawn out conflict. Tomorrow we begin excavation.

I'm definitely going to dry my rock out thoroughly before I use it next time... Maybe bake it at 500 degrees for a few minutes if that won't cause the rock itself to break down.
Love the crabs they *are* cute but darnit I want coral. I've started with a 29 Gallon tank myself and am already trying to convince my wife to let me build a 120-250.

Haha. I must be crazy because I would start another tank with liverock in a heartbeat. Of course I have learned a lot of good methods to get out the bad and would NEVER move fish in as fast as I did again. It is amazing for a new tank but in hind sight and error with upgrading

Ok - to be more specific... I would dip the rocks to get out everything I wanted to keep... And then I'd perform ERADICATION

I'm on my first tank - day 21 today - used live rock and I've found a rare sponge that can move/walk, several pineapple sponges, a few filter feeders poking out of the rocks, several stomatella, a couple of little clam-like things, several asternia sea stars, and some other fun stuff. Tank has so many copepods at this point it's almost like snow haha... Nothing in there to eat them so we'll see what happens with that.

OMG...who thinks that stuff is cute? Gives me the creepy crawlies. Look up my post about the game of what is this? I had these rocks for almost two years and all of a sudden I get this crazy snail eating flatworm. What gives?

What kind of crabs are they? The red color and fuzzy claws are very cool! They bad or just risky?Got these two clowns out so far...
No sign of the eunice. Got a peanut worm and an unknown.

I thought I read somewhere that baking live rock is bad for you. Could release poisonous gases. So at least don't breathe around it. Not sure if anything bad could stay in your oven and then get released back into your food later?
