Ya the blue-dark center makes the RPE. Nice though.

i just looked on zoaid and thought as mouth of wat im getting is on a dark blob and the orange starting to show in the centers of some polyps it looks OPE. i look again lol

Ya they are NOT right on Zoaid .com.

maybe RPE. the picture i was sent as i posted does show orange on some polyps which looks like they are developing.

either way my first PE's so im happy chappy as never see any at lfs

lol those silly priced paly got no blob in the middle, if they were worth that sort of money then ppl would be snapping them up as soon as offered but as they aren't they cant be worth it lol

we dont have anything that rare here in the UK lol

orange enveys and OPE's are not the same thing.

theres still a debate as to whether OPE's actually exist. or are they rather just faded out RPE's. no one to date has yet to show a picture of an OPE and RPE side by side in a tank after given ample time to acclimate to current tank conditions.

also, the colors coming from digital pictures can be very decieving. as well as the type of bulb over the tank.

we only beginners here in UK so got alot of catching up to do as far as knowledge so if the yanks say RPE then RPE they are lol

yep i understand the varient light thing makes/changes appearence.

That's the most important thing to understand Berns...lighting will affect how just about any color morph will look!!!

I agree that RPE and OPE are the same. I've got some true RPE's that had a lot of orange in them under certain lights, but more red under other lights. All bulbs were in the 12-15K range (MH-Sunburst 12K's, XM 15K, and Iwasaki 14K's). I think that as they acclimate to the new lights , they are going to be much more red.

I say they are Severly bleached RPE.
I have some that I bleached on purpose to prove a point just like this thread suggests ;)

lol i know about bleaching as i have some pink varients that are not so pink now, but got them under some T5 blue tubes for now and have noticed the pink showing abit here and there, its taken about 2 months to show so about this time next year i guess lol

so wats best placement for RPE's high/low to try bring out the true colours? i have twin 150w halide with 14k lamps but now im a zoa freak im gonna change to 20k lamps next month now i got enough pennies (cents to you)

I wasn't gonna mention it yet, but you should see what these are coloring up to now that they are under Metal Halides...I'll get some pics of them with my RPE. (This is the pic of them a couple months ago under PC)

jonbar, something doesnt look right with the bottom of that colony. those aren't baby polyps either. looks like something munched the skirts right off.

Most of them actually grew into polyps, that pic was when they were freshly put into my tank from the wholesaler. I've fragged them a few times, and given a few of them away to see what they do in local tanks. I'll get a pic up of them tomorrow, they look quite different.
