Looking for some recommendations on which combination of an array of the Ophek Atlantik V4 (Gen2) would be best for my new tank setup. My tank is 72"x30"x24" (LxWxH). The two logical array patterns I can think of is either two Atlantiks spaced evenly long ways or three Atlantik Compacts that are turned sideways and also spaced evenly.

Here are the two options I am thinking, these are not drawn to any exact scale either:

Any braces to worry about... or future plans or possibility of using T5s to flank?

30" deep tank is no joke to light, but I am guessing that you know this which explains the query.

No bracing through the center, tank is eurobraced. I guess I never thought of supplementing with T5s just because I'd assumed the Atlantiks alone would be enough.

The compacts recommmended coverage spread is 30x24, so turned sideways with 3, I'd think that would hit the width of the tank just right at 30" and then hit the length of the tank at 24“ x 3 = 72".

The regular Atlantiks, have a recommended coverage spread of 40"x24". Which would be a little overkill for the length of the tank at 40" x 2 = 80". But slightly underated when trying to cover the width, short by 6". I guess I could supplement this setup with the Aquatic Life T5 / LED fixture and have the orpheks mounted in the center, or just some stand-alone T5s on either side. Cost wise though, it would be cheaper to do 3 compacts for the same coverage and I would have to worry about replacing bulbs.

Have same dimensions on my tank. Have had 2 of the v4's set up "the long way", 14 inches above the water and they have been more than enough to grow anything anywhere in the tank.

On BRS the full size go for $1100 and the compacts for $770 so going with 2 full size would be $130 cheaper. You can email Orphek as well and see if they'll give you a deal. I think 2 full size would be fine if you don't have any corals within 6" of the front or back glass. If you do you can add one of their OR bars to the back or a t5. I have a full size and a compact on my 55x26 tank and works great.

The configuration on the second line with the three is how I have mine and how I see many setting theirs up.

My tank is 72-36-24 and i have 5 units from front to back

FIVE ? I squeezed blood from a turnip to have three. That looks fantastic !! Ultimately, Six would be my number as my tank is 108" X 48" deep but I have Orphek bars at front and rear for supplement.

I was thinking to add one or two OR Blue plus but 60" not available yet...

We are Very close on the 60" version.

@eslatts11 BRS is having a sale on the lights, $200 off! Compacts are going for $570 a piece. I'd snatch your three up!

LOL, I was literally about to just say BRS is having a sale on these today and im going to pull the trigger!

The debate right now is whether to get the Ecotech 60.5" rail or the 70.5" rail. If I add in more than the initial 3 lights at some point down the road then I think I am going to want the 70.5" rail.

I might go with the longer one just for more options like you said. Might even want to end up attaching orphek bars and and being longer just gives more attachment places if you get 2 36" bars for each side or something like that.

I have been told that T5’s aren’t needed really with the orpheks. Since they are a panel type led they provide spread very similar to t5 anyway. Running more units might not be needed at first bit either way it lets you run them higher up with lower wattage.
