Will a UV sterilizer kill phytoplankton ? will it wipe it out in a tank ? need to know thnx

No it kills bacteria and pathogens in the water column.
This mfr says different - Aqua Ultraviolet UV Sterilizers will eradicate algae, bacteria, and protozoa without any harmful chemicals or additives

yes UV will kill that stuff.
Anything that passes through the sterilizer will be killed, so yes I suppose phytoplankton would be killed….but why would you be culturing phytoplankton in a display tank?

I'm not ..I added some due to a bad algae outbreak..it consumed all the nutrients and is now aggravating some of the anemones in my tank because it is at explosive levels in the tank right now..I need to get it to cut back some ..its causing problems.

I think it may only kill phyto if they go through it. But it is a useful piece of equipment. I bought mine a few months back to help with an ich outbreak and I am happy I did.
