Opinions needed: Brightwells' XPORT-NO3

I would like to try this product in a canister filter. Has anyone used this product and can share their experience in helping lower nitrates?

I used it and didn't really see any results. I didn't use a canister filter, put it between the baffles in my sump to ensure maximum contact. It breaks down really easy and made on heck of a mess. After about 7 months I just used my shop vac and vacuumed the stuff out. I would not by it again.
