Opinions on Bubble Magnus skimmers

I think we all know what I'm going to say by now :banghead:

Bubble magus is suppose to be a top notch name in skimmers. I'm sure it'll do what it do.

I looked at them. They were too tall once you accounted for water depth needed given my sump.
 
I have one and HATE it. I will set it and have it dialed in to pull skimmate the way I want it and it will work great for anywhere from 2 weeks to a month then all of a sudden it over flows for no reason. An it is really touchy when it comes to water level. If you run an ATO it should be ok but if you get it you have to watch it daily to make sure it doesn't over flow.
 
I have a custom sump that has a baffled chamber that will maintain the water height at exactly 11 inches always. Evaporation occurs in a different chamber.

This is exactly what I do and it works well. No issues.
