Probably kill each other unless you know they are a breeding pair. Best to go juvenile or one large, one juvenile. Maroons can be tricky to pair though.

I have a pair of mated maroons that are coming up on 18yrs old. (and have the original BTA and it's 22 clones)

They need to be different sizes or may fight and still then there's no guarantee.

Didn't know there was more than one type of maroon. Anyhow love mine and rbta is natural host so should work out. I wouldn't add more than two and make sure one is much larger. Add the smaller first.

If you can afford it, best to buy a mated pair for peace of mind. I bought a mated pair of gold nugget maroons when they were still juvenile with one already established as the female since she was bigger. They were both white when I got them, now they're turning a nice gold color, looking fierce...they took to my BTA within 15 minutes of being introduced to the tank and haven't left since
