Opinions on Skimer

Just got a 28g jbj biocube, the skimmer that came with it imo sucks and will be the first thing i replace. What are the best HOB skimmers for a 28g? Or should i go with a sump skimmer and add in a smaller sump underneath? if this route is best what are some options for sump skimmers for this size?

Also looking for other upgrades to get that will help or make maintaining easier
