i have started a 150G cube and started the cycle yesterday with 25lbs live rock from my other mature reef and some filter media I put in the sump months ago anticipating this build.
This 150 came with approx 100lbs of old dry rock that looks clean and I put it in the tank also to cycle with the tank.
My ammonia is already reading .50 from yesterday so I know my cycle has started. My question is with all of this old rock curing with my seeded rock should I run my skimmer? I’ve never run a skimmer before during a cycle but then again I’ve never just tossed in 100lbs of dry rock before either. Sorry it’s a little cloudy from me just moving some rock around.

Thoughts?

Skimmer will likely keep overflowing during this period and since you're cycling there's no real benefit running a skimmer without a cup either, more oxygen won't help the cycle under normal circumstances. My 2 cents.
