hey everyone I am replacing my sand bed. I am looking for something more coarse and that doesn't blow around. I am just curious if there are any recommendations out there for something that is unique or that people have had incredible luck with.

I really like the ReefFlakes from Tropic Eden.

CaribSea Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand

This is what many of us use. It stays put very well in heavy flow yet is still light enough for wrasses to bury in. There are a lot of good substrates out there. This is one of them. The link will take you to a site that I have never purchased from - it's just an example of what to look for. I would try and buy from Marine Depot or one of our sponsors if available.

My fault this is the correct sand.

does it look nice or would you supplement with a colorful sand as well?

I think it looks great. Are you going for a particular look? I don't think you would need to supplement it but everyone has different tastes.

it just looks kinda brown tan in teh pics i see...

I would say that is a fair statement. I would say it is a light tan / off white. It's nothing exciting looking but it does the job, stays still in heavy flow, and the fish are happy with it (wrasses that bury). You could always offset it with another type with some color if you want to go that route. I would just make sure that the grain size is similar to this stuff (so it won't blow around). Typically, you will be safe with something between 1.25 - 1.95mm. The higher on that scale the better. Of course I am running 3 MP60's so my idea of heavy flow may be a bit higher than others...lol.
