Opinions on tank with this mounting bracket

I picked up this mounting bracket today with the hopes I wouldn’t have to hang my lights from the ceiling or off the wall behind the tank. My worry is maybe this is going to put too much strain on the side glass. My tank is a cadlights 45g shallow. Glass is 1/4” thick. Fixture is an ati 24x8 bulb

I think you are right in that there is some strain on the side glass which could be bad in that it might pull apart the seams over a long period of time especially since it is a rimless tank. The tank also looks to shallow to look good with a canopy on top so I think your best option is some sort of sturdy mounting arm. There is this mounting leg set on BRS:

You could try to use the mounting legs and find a bracket that transverses the mounting legs and rest the light on top of the brackets but I think that might no be very stable and it would bring the light closer to the surface of the water where you get more slat spray and limit your top down view.

I think the best option would be a good mounting arm but I don't think they make one for this ATI fixture. So the next best option for functionality and aesthetics I think would be a wall hanging kit like this one made by Giesemann sold on BRS:

You may need to move the tank back against the wall or you could try using one bracket on each side wall but I think the back wall would look better.

I hope my input helps you out. Also the reason why I look at this thread in the first place was because you are using STAX ROCKS!! I was looking to buy some to switch out my rock in my 20g High. Do you think you could post more pictures with more white light so I could see what your aquascape looks like?? I am trying to get an idea of how much rock I need and how to arrange it. I already saw some of the rock arrangements that you posted on other threads. Do you think 20 pounds for a 20g High is enough??

@Reef Doc hey sorry for the delay I was not notified I had a response here. I ended up taking those off and mounting it from my wall and I’m much happier I don’t have any pics under whites on my phone currently and I’m out of town until Friday. Could you do an @ me on that thread and I’ll respond with those this weekend?

It depends on what kind of rockwork you’re going for. I wanted a more minimalist look with open spaces. I ordered 40lbs for my 45g and ended up using MAYBE half. I would think 20lbs for yours would be sufficient
