Hi folks!
Well, my wife was right. She told me to paint the background black. I didn't listen to her (yikes) and painted it a blue color that I thought would have looked nice.

(Not sure where the "ridges" are from. The glass was clean and smooth and level. I sprayed it in thin layers. I cannot feel them so I'm wondering if it is inside the glass)

Now that its up and running (not cycled. No livestock), I am thinking she was right. The color looks ok, but I can't help to think that it would look alot better in black. So, im thinking of emptying the tank, putting the water in tubs, etc., and repainting it before adding livestock and before its too late.
What do you guys think? Is it worth the effort? Is the existing color nice enough not to put in that effort? Will the existing spray paint be easy enough to remove?
Thanks!

What's you aquascaping plan? Couple of things come to mind. Over time, a lot of it will get covered in coralline algae anyway and second, a lot of this will be covered by your aquascape and corals as well. So you aren't going to see a majority of this. My opinion, leave it as-is.

First two guys must not be married? Certainly not married to my wife.

You must drain the tank and scrape off that horrid blue and paint it black just like she said, or else. :)

If you are not happy then yes, fix it now. It won't look blacker unless you make it black.

IMO black makes the corals colors pop but if you are trying to replicate a reef in the ocean the blue is exactly what it looks like when I’m down there scuba diving. I always get AIO tanks and those only come black but when I do a larger tank one day I’ll be sure to do blue for the natural effect

A razor scraper should make easy work of removal. Only issue you might have is if the blue paint got between the glass and the tank frame, it may difficult/impossible to get it all scraped off.

I love a blue background!
My 110 gallon has a blue background and honestly, I like it better than the black background I have on my 180 gallon.
It makes the tank look more natural and makes the lights "pop" the tank more than a black background does.

Do the one you like best though.
It's YOUR tank.

Home Depot Behr paint ask for wet cement. Gray (Like battleship grey) Makes UV amazing at night and cuts down on fish fighting themselves in the glass reflection. Water based so if you don't like you can scrape off.
