Opinions wanted! What should I add?

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post a picture of my current corals and ask for suggestions on what I should add/change! I’m definitely wanting to brighten it up with more neon corals for the blue light setting.

right now, from left to right, I have what I think is a wall frogspawn, daisy cutter zoas, some other zoa, a torch, favia, a branching frogspawn, and what I think is a mushroom coral. Thanks guys!

Hi yes, only about 1 month old or so now~ currently I have 2 clowns and a firefish.
For lighting and filtration I’m just using the stock light and stock filter for the Fluval Evo 13.5 but I’m going to upgrade as soon as I can with the upgrade kits for the evo on fragbox

Fragbox … you’re Canadian …. Lol
You’re off to a great start but from the look of the sand and diatoms starting. The ugly stage is going to settle in
Try to let your system settle a little before adding too much coral .
keep a eye on nutrient levels ( nitrate and phosphates ) and preform water changes to keep nitrates as stable as possible

Okay will do! also my nitrate and nitrite level spiked recently, any idea what could have caused it?

Nitrates spike as the end of the nitrogen cycle . All ammonia was transferred to become nitrite and to nitrate .
if a large water change was not preformed they can’t go anywhere .
Nitrite will also
Give you a false higher nitrate test result .
if you have cycled your tank I would never test nitrite again ….
What test kits are you using ?

Seeing as you have corals. Are you testing magnesium. Alkalinity , calcium and salinity ?

Seeing as you have corals. Are you testing magnesium. Alkalinity , calcium and salinity ?

I’ll have to check what the levels are at but last time I checked they were at the top of the levels for the API test kit…. Gonna get more water and a new test kit today as I heard the API ones aren’t great. Currently not testing for magnesium, alkalinity, or calcium but I will try and get a kit that tests those today. Salinity is normal according to my LFS.

If you are looking for something bright and easy. A neon green trumpet coral/candycane coral is incredibly bright green under actinic lighting. Jack o lantern leptoseris is an incredibly bright orange.

Higher quality and all around east to use test kits
I use Hanna instruments for measuring alkaline
Salifert is a great and affordable kit for measuring cal , mag , nitrate and even alkalinity
For measuring salinity either a refractometer which can be cheap on amazing for like $20

Makes a digital salinity checker but I will say … pick one instrument , calibrate it and use it …

If this is a new tank, I would hold off until after holidays to allow tank to mature a little more, and you will see many price drop slighty after holiday demand
