So a guy posted a rainbow bta on craigslist. With 3 pics that look just like this first one.he was only able to meet while I was at work. So I had my wife meet him. He was asking $60. Said he paid $90. The pics were beautiful. So I wanted it. I traded him a 15+ ked red zoa, 9 sunny d's, a green tipped purple frogspawn and a branching frog/hammer. I had these on cl for $15 each so it evened out I thought. Maybe I gave him a lil deal as the keds and frog were slow growing and nice frags. So I get home and the nem is closed tight and looks a bit stressed. After a long slow acclimation I got it in tank late last night. This morning I woke to find it open ( that's good anyway). But it looks nothing like the pics. It looks like it is either a different nem or the pics were taken when he bought it and it has since bleached and was not well. I have two green centered rose btas. This one was supposed to be hot pink tips lime green arms and a purple center. which was different and my wife and I want to collect different color btas. But look at these pics. This first one is from google because he imediatlytook his post down and I ccan't see his anymore. Nor will he answer emails anymore. but this is what his pics looked like. The second two are the nem now. Looks to me like a bleached version of mine. I don't see the purple and the pink is nicer but it appears that's because its bleached. Do you guys think there's a chance it will wind up looking like the first pic? Or will it be a regular green and red like mine. The last pic.

That pic was not his. But his 3 pics look exactly the same. The nem traveled 20 mins tops. He defanitly burnt me. I'm hoping it lookedright when he bought it then he was killing it which is why he ditched it. Or he just posted false pics and traded abn entirely different nem. I hope that's not the case. The tentacles are stressed and it does appear bleached. So I'm hoping the first senario is correct. I can bring it back to health I'm sure. I just hope its really a rainbow and not the same as my two which I'm trying to sell one already for $45 and are twice the size of this one.

I think it will look close once its colored up. It is bleached tho.

I knew by reading the first two sentences of your post this was bad. Never make a trade with someone and use your wife as a liaison. Not only is it not wise, she may not know what to look at, but its DEFINITELY not safe for her.

He didn't say what lighting he had. It was defanitly more attinic. I'm sure it will look better when my lights go through the blue cycle. But it is defanitly not just lighting. As I said you can tell this nem is highly stressed. Tentacles are shrunkin and deflated around the boarder and coloris almost translucent. (Bleached ) at the very least his pics were taken some time ago.

It does look like a rainbow but unfortunately may not look the same when brought back to health.

They said it was fine earlier and I must not have acclimated properly or have copper in my water. 3.5 hour drip acclimation and my four btas and mixed reef including 10+ sps say there's no copper. The pics on cl were classoc rainbow. Purple center, long green arms, and pink bubbles.. just like the first pic I posted here. He said that was a month ago. He sent me this pic and said this was the same nem yesterday. Lol and the photo is not edited. Lol so this pic is the same nem a month later with no purple, lots of yellow, short amount of green and longer red ends.

Also said 15+ ked reds, 10 sunny d's, 2 heads branching frog/hammer, and a 2" frogspawn head were worth abot $25 all together and he got ripped off. Told me to go to boston reefers and look at prices. I did. Cheapest I found was $10 for 2 polyps of sunny d, $15 for 8 ked red, and $10 a head for frogs and hammers. I wwouldn't go this far. But $25????

I know this guys love water movement. One of my BTA's from the past. Sold/traded him and 7 others. Took up to much space.
