What do you find to be your optimum tank temperature?

Is it the same temp for better colors and better growth?

My tank tends to run in the low to mid 80's during summer so I was wondering how temp ranges affect coral growth and coloration for others.

Thanks

I try to keep my systems around 79-82 would keep lower if I could lol(78) but seems to be a safe range for my system and animals

79 is a great number. But its more about keeping it steady without high spikes.Corals and fish can adjust but adjusting to large spikes is harder. There are ways from setup to fans to move air and chillers. I use a gallon container in the hot months. Just freeze and let float mid day to help control. And things like tank placement.By a window or vent can cause spikes in temp.

I definately agree that stability is very important. I was just wondering what others run at. If there was a different range out there that affected coloration or growth.

I keep my tanks between 78-80. They're on a temp. controller and in an air conditioned space so no chillers for me.

Coral and fish can adjust to a wide rage of temps. Its the amount it changes by that important. 79 is a great number to shoot for but hard. Find a range you can keep steady and keeping it there at a constant will be best. Dont stress over getting the 79 though unless you can spend money. A few good heaters and a good chiller would do this for you. But with an upfront cost and monthly cost.
Things like tank placement help. Also type of light and distance above the surface . You could also use some fans for air flow below the lights.
Coral will grow and be much happier if your readings stay stable. Fish dont care as long as readings are in the normal rage.
