Options for a reef safe, non jumper, 30gallon fish

I'm starting a search for my last fish for my tank and hopefully the STAR of the tank. It needs to be reef safe and a non jumper as I do not have a canopy. I was looking at a 6 liner but with their aggression later in life and chance of jumping it's out. Also was looking at a royal but again aggression might be a issue. Tank mates are 2 clowns and 2 banggais. 30 gallon tank. Any suggestions?

Well all fish are jumpers, unfortunately I have had my fair share of clowns jump.

Do you have clams or sps, would you consider a Dwarf Angel? Like a Pigmy or Flame Hawk. You're tank is on the small side but with current bio-load you could pull it off.

Ideally a Trio of Fire Fish but they will jump, that would fit in well with your current arrangement.

Pygmy and Possum wrasse would work, but they are not considered show stoppers.

I like the Chalk Bass as well as the Royal Gramma.

I do not have clams, I have one birdnest frag that was given to me it's half inch tops. I thought dawf angels need 50+ gallon tanks... I would like a dawf flame, and the pygmy is nice also.

Go to the pet store and buy one of those reptile lids, fix the jumping issues.

Good idea for the firefish Any kind of dartfish should do well in your tank

Subconsciously I knew to have any star of the tank i would need a canopy. The flasher wrasse would be the fish I'd go with if I had a canopy. I had a glass lid but with the salt creep, water spots, limited gas exchange and heat it was a pia. I want to exhaust all resources to ensure I'm not missing a fish that would do well and meet my needs.

Not glass, the screen top for reptiles...like 10 ,15 bucks. They set heat lamps on them and the are rust free. Lose no gas exchange or anything and as far as salt creep, spray it off when you do a water change! Bada Bing!

Yea I'd have to do a diy if I went with a top as I have my heater and skimmer in the tank. Good to know they have that! Thanks

Yellow assessor
Swales basslet
Grammistes blenny
Clown goby
Pink streak wrasse
Possum wrasse

Firefish are great, but are definitely jumpers. Also, someone mentioned a trio of these, but males are intolerant of males, females intolerant of females, so a trio will relatively quickly turn to a pr, and in many instances will become just a single firefish.

Many of the fish for a 30g can jump right through egg crate, if it's head fits, it's body will fit.

Saddle puffer I believe would be the only doable puffer I think... but thought they weren't reef safe?

The whole genus of Canthigaster puffers will work for that size. They may pick at motile inverts, clams, and fleshy lps.
