I have a DSA 65 with 1-1 1/4 drain and 1- 3/4 emergency drain plumbed.
I have flex tube running from the main drain and attached to my trigger systems ruby sump running into a filter sock.
The water drains just above the water line in the sump.
Im getting a gurgling sound thats annoying the wife and want to know if putting a 1inch ball valve on the drain to slow it down just a tad would do the trick.

I had a piece of airline in the cap on the drain that seemed to do the trick until this week it started making noise again. Normally after firing the pump back up after feeding it would take it about 30 minutes to quiet down again. Its been making noises now for about 24 hrs non stop. This tank has been up for a little over a month.

any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Could that airline in the cap be clogged? I have a Glass-Holes overflow that has "airlines" that clog up frequently. I have to run a ramrod down those tubes to keep them clean.

I checked that still open. I pulled the airline tubing out and the water lever rose a tad in the overflow. but still getting the noise.. Dang it

I got a silencer from this place that works well. I am pretty sure it is something they developed. I can't find a link to the actual device but here is there facebook page. There is a video somewhere on there of the product. If you want you can send them a message or call them to ask them about it.

I would put a ball valve. Seems like you will still have most of the emergency pipe open even if you put a valve on the main drain. Make sure you make the main drain a full siphon.

Not entirely sure I understand how you have things setup. You have two drains? One is 1 1/4" pipe and a second is 3/4" pipe? If so, first thing you should do is make the 3/4" your main drain and the 1 1/4" your backup. Second thing you should do is google 'herbie drain' and configure yours as such. Essentially means running the main drain as a full siphon with a gate valve on the pipe below the tank. Properly adjusted this is essentially silent.

This is what i have setup currently. Sorry for the crappy drawing but you get the idea.

Herbie drain looks easy enough. I would need a 3/4 gate valve for this correct?

It is easy. Just plumb a 3/4" gate valve into the 3/4" piping below the tank. Drop the top of the 3/4" pipe inside the overflow to about 6-8" below the overflow teeth (top it with a strainer). Make sure the sump output end of the 3/4" pipe is only an inch or two below the normal sump water level. Adjust the gate valve until the pipe non longer sucks air, but the water level in the overflow just touches the top of the second drain. Ideally the second drain remains dry under normal operation, but a slight trickle is acceptable too. Get ready for glorious silence!

It appears from your detailed drawing that you have a durso-like drain pipe. Do you have the ability to raise and lower this pipe. Durso's like to be at the "just right" level in water.

I have a T PVC fitting on my drain, then a 90 degree facing back down in the overflow (obviously at water height) then a small piece with a cap at the top of the T with a hole drilled into it and mine makes ABSOLUTELY NO NOISE WHAT SO EVER. And it's next to my bed.

Below is a picture so you can see it.
