Options for sand cleanup with carpet nems

So my brother has a tank and keeps clarkii’s and a carpet nem. He has a hard time keeping a standard cleanup crew because the clarkii’s will pick everything up and drop them in the nem. Snails, crabs, small fish, star fish. Everything has been eaten by this nem. Even a flame angle he bought got eaten by this black hole.

So what can he get to keep his sand bed clean that wont get eaten?

you can try a sleeper goby, but be careful as they usually die off in new tanks as they need some established substrate.
