ORA Captive bred mandarin dragonets

Our experience has shown that these young fish begin to grow rapidly when they are kept in a reef environment. We believe that while our mandarins can survive on 100% commercial diets, they will thrive in an environment that offers them a combination of frozen, pellet and live copepods.
Are the mandarin's accepting of a wide variety of pellets? I've always wanted one, but never had an established copepod colony to be able to sustain wild caught ones.

I would always consider a QT period a good idea regardless of origin. This allows you to observe the individual habits of the new addition in a controlled environment.

I totally agree that a qt is always a good idea. The only reason I was asking is because I’ve heard that mandarins for not do well with medications and I’m not sure how to feed one in a quarantine tank. I guess I will just not get a mandarin until I have come up with a solution for how to keep one well fed in quarantine.

I'm confused as to how you wouldn't be able to feed. They will accept pellet and frozen with no issue. It's just recommend that long term you would want to keep them in a setting where pods would also be available. Hope that clears it up a bit.

I wouldn't recomend copper or any other meds in QT for mandarin. They have a particularly thick slime coat and as long as chemistry is good and they're feeding well, the farmed mandarin are quite hardy.
