I switched my MH to LED after seeing the glorious colors and growth of the acros that H@rry (NARC member here) is growing under his DIY LED's. I read many reviews and looked for an affordable fixture. Then, someone in NARC got three Evergrow fixtures through a group buy. She brought one of it to compare the colors to my Phoenix 14K MH lamps under Lumenbright reflectors. The colors matched pretty well to our surprise. The lux meter readings were close, too. Since Evergrow fixtures are reasonably priced, I made the switch.

One interesting thing is that my corals lightened up in colors quite a bit. My deep blue Cali tort is now brilliant medium blue. Some corals seem to lose yellowish colors while others, especially blue ones, brighten up in my experience. This is the reason why I am experimenting with the intensity of the white channel. I may drop the intensity of the white a bit more and increase the intensity of the blue channels.
thats very interesting. I've been wanting to switch my 20k bulbs to a 65k to increase growth rate. What kelvin bulbs have you worked with in the past? Have u ever tried 20k? As for LED's, I used to have AI VEGAS but I returned them because the were spotty and left dim areas in my tank. U ever have that problem with yours?

I've used 20K XM for a number of years. When I switched to 14K Phoenix, I noticed that green and yellow colors became very vivid. The growth rate of some acros might have increased some. However, I started running GFO around that time and noticed the growth slowed down to some extent. It's hard to say which wavelength is responsible for exciting which pigment/fluorescent proteins. I recall some Japanese LED manufacture was doing their own study to Improve their LED lamps/fixture.
