So I got some new ORA acro's in today from ORA, and they look great but I really hate there plugs!!!!! I don't like how you cant flush mount them because of there fat base. My question is what have you guys found the best way to mount them or to even cut them off? I tried to cut before but gave up on it cause it was way to thick, is there any trick with these things?

Idk what to tell you but if i have a problem cutting something reef related i usually get the trusty dremel, put it on high and go at it!

I break off all corals from their frag plugs even if it means leaving a little behind. I am just to cautious in regards to picking up enemy freebies.

I break off most of my plugs also, but if you ever got a frag from ORA they usually come fully encrusted, so I don't like to change those one's.

That was my next move, just never tried a dremel on them yet. Thanks

I use a hacksaw with my roomate using the saw while I use a pair of vice-grips to hold the plug as firmly as possible. Haven't found a pair of bone cutters that are big enough, and the dremel just makes way too much a mess for my tastes.

I just break it off the base and mount it to the rock work and put the plug in the frag rack/tank for "future" use since some of the coral will still be on the plug :)

^hahahah exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure he ordered them from LA

I have a bandsaw bro

I use a pair of the PVC pipe cutters. Doesn't get it all but you can get most of it.
