hey guys! I'm looking to adding an assessor (or two) to my tank! how have yours been? anything I should know prior to getting one?

They're fantastic! A little timid at first, but come out more and more once they feel comfortable. Mine hangs with my flasher wrasses and yellow tang in the front. He's always out and looking for food. What size tank do you have? Two may prove difficult in a small tank.

Mine is doing fabulous....he shares his home with a yellow assessor...he is absolutely gorgeous colored, eats anything you put in the tank, enjoys swimming in and out of the caves in my tank and in the open water, swims upside down....while a little cryptic at first he is now out and about all the time. It’s very difficult to describe and capture the full color and iridescence of this fish. He looks different colored from different angles and light. Really cool peaceful fish!! Hope this helps

Have you had an issue with your assessor and flasher? I would like to have one of each in my cube aquarium and am trying to research the compatibility.

Should have zero issues provided the tank is 3 foot or so (for the flasher). The assessor will pick an area and only really leave it for food. They love little caves or overhangs to stay under. Mine lives under the monticap, and swims upside down most of the time.

My Randall's is always out and gets along with everyone in the tank. Only the clowns push him away when they have eggs. No issues with flashers or fairy wrasses. Beautiful fish and if you look closely at their belly, you can see the orange, especially if illuminated from below. The view from above is even better, such contrast in color from all angles.

I don’t have a flasher wrasse but I actually have a Randall’s and a Yellow Assessor in my Waterbox 20 Cube along with two Picasso Clowns they’ve all been together for over a year now and no aggression issues. They are easy to keep, eat anything, and super cool to watch. I added both the assessors at the same time, and the clowns within a couple of weeks after they were introduced...once the assessors established their personal caves no fussing between them other than an occasional chase if one gets too close to the others cave dwelling. Their caves are on opposite sides of my cube. They were both somewhat shy and cryptic at first but are both out and about all the time now and are very nice peaceful fish with really neat colors. Mine both swim upside down frequently. Like Minus said they color on the Randall’s is very unique and quite stunning when viewed from different angles and lighting. Hope this helps
