this is a very fast growing coral for me. i saved the little rim of encrusting coral on the plug, and now thats in itself a mini colony after just a few months.

i think LEDs bring out a lot more colors in this coral, depending on how blue you go, youll probably see more greens show up. i have a bit whiter spectrum on my T5s so im seeing a lot more cream colors with purple tips.

Thank you!

Well this will be under a slightly modified ab+ light schedule on my AI’s will post some pictures when it starts to grow:)

LOL... people complaining about "silly names" now? I don't know if "the Carl" or "joe the coral" is any better "back then".

I can't find anything on ORA's site called "The Carl" I wonder if it was renamed. This one looks similar:

I gotta say, I really appreciate ORA' attention to photographing corals under natural lighting, not the blue-heavy ridiculousness you see most other places...

I have the Carl and it was shipped to me directly from ORA. Unfortunately it arrived pale and not like the colors on the site. Hopefully it will color up well.

Looking good. Yea I saw a ton of ora’s stuff was not listed on their site. Divers den has some of it but still stuff missing from both.

Mine is 1.5 years old, first coral I added to my 1.6 year old reef. It survived an immature tank, variable alkalinity, photoperiod adjustments and neglect. So it can take a beating! It started growing about 3 months after placement and is growing relatively quickly now. It’s 3-4 inches tall 2 inches wide. I would say it has a subtle beauty. It’s 18 inches below 400watt MH 20k run 6 hours then ReefBrite XHO LED 50/50 for 6 hours. It definitely can go with lower lighting! It is in a high flow spot.
