Hi Scott,

Are the Vargas Cespitularia and Tojo Cespitularia different? I got the Vargas from you and was thinking about the Tojo but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to buy the same coral.

They look a little different in the pics but I noticed in the description of the Tojo you mention Tony Vargas.

Thanks!

Wes

Great question, Wes, one which has a bit of controversy surrounding it!

My understanding is that they are one in the same. However, the Vargas Cespitularia that we offer are directly from Tony's reef tanks, whereas the ReefGen specimens that we offer are propogated from ReefGen stock, which Tony might have also maintained...Like I said, it gets a bit confusing. Then, we also carry the ORA "Vargas Cepsitularia", which were propagated at ORA from specimens Tony originally supplied. Talk to Tony, and you'll get the story based on his experience, and Joe Yaiullo may have a slightly different take on the particular coral. Others suggest it is a Efflatounaria..The confusion grows!

Tony's a good friend, and I'll be talking to him in the next day or so, and I'll be sure to ask him for his thoughts on the coral!

Nothing like a good story!

Cool, thanks! I'm definitely interested in the story. For clarification, I hit the "ORA Vargas Cespitularia" but would be interested in the ToJo if it happens to be different.
