Last month i bought my first chalice. It seems to me that its bleaching in the middle. I will post a picture this after noon once i get back to the house. Question i have is how do i go about bring this coral back so that it just does not fade away.

When i bought this coral frag i placed it in a shady sandbed and slowly moving it upwards to get it use to my LED's coming from a petco frag tank. Its got awhite spot in the middle on the process of getting new light.

Can you post any pictures?

Have you tried moving it back down to lesser light to see if it will start to heal? I had a chalice that did the same thing and took almost a month to heal. Today, you can't even tell where the problem was. It wasn't due to light stress, it was getting stung by another coral. Are you sure it's away from any other corals?

Ya i last month it bleached and all this month its been on the sandbed. to bad that par meters have to be a million dollars haha. but do you all know what way to bring back this coral

I can't see the white spot in the pic. Just try to find a spot where it won't be bothered and low light and let it be. See if it's feeders come out at night and try spot feeding it for a while.

My chalice had a hole right in the middle down to the skeleton from being stung. I just moved it away and spot fed it, and a month later you can't even see where the damage was done.

IME chalice corals take some time to heal up.

ok thanks, what do you feed your chalice

a frozen coral blend or some reef chili/coral frenzy powdery type of food. Wait until your lights go out for your chalice and about an hour or two afterward, see if his feeders are out. That will be the best time to feed him.

So i thought i had a chalice but its really a [h=1]Blood Red Cyphastrea[/h]
I looked on cherrycorals and found what i have in my tank lable has something different

Oh, that makes a difference. IME, cyphastrea needs even less light... Yeah, don't move it up, that's why it was bleaching out.
