I ordered a chalk bass...and got an orange-dotted tuskfish instead! I haven't been able to find much info online...but I'm sure I know the answer is going to be "this isn't going to work in my tanks". Still, questions have to be asked:

-My biggest tank is a Reefer 350. How much time would I have before it would outgrow it?

--The Reefer has a very nice collection of inverts, including some shrimp and keyhole limpets I don't want to lose. How quickly would they be lunch? And are my urchins in danger? I'm guessing that I'd have to kiss the snails goodbye.

The fish is currently in observational quarantine. I take it that the best option is to see if a fish store in Edmonton could take this? Local rehoming isn't an option, as I live in a small town.

Sounds like it might quickly out grow your tank, right after it finishes feasting on your limpets, shrimp and the other delicious foods you have stocked for it.

sorry you didn’t get the chalk bass. That would have been a better fit for your plan.

Can you ship? Putting it back into the parcel post might be the best thing. Advertising on here for free fish, just pay the shipping costs might resolve the issue?

reminds me of a story I heard about a guy who ordered a mail order bride; when he opened the package it was a male order bride, but that was along time ago.

Courier services are terrible here; "overnight" means 3+ days in a box. Shipping prices are also exorbitant: a seller might be able to charge $50 to courier livestock by arranging bulk discount rates, it'd cost be twice as much to do the same thing, and I don't have anything to oxygenate the water to the degree that it would increase the fish's chance of survival.

The closest city (or rather, big town with reefers) is two hours away. I'll probably just give it away if someone has a 200g tank or, more likely, as a fish store in Edmonton to take it off my hands. It's a nice fish, but its colours are pretty dull.

If I were in your situation tonight we’d be having fish tacos. :)

Im assuming you don’t have a cat?
Aw, I couldn't do that. It's not its fault that the seller couldn't figure out that this wasn't a chalk bass. I bet it would still look cute at 20 inches, although I bet it would be very bitey.

It's going to be a short story if she tries to go after the goby. Predicted outcome: tuskfish: -700 HP. Goby: +1100 XP, level up.

I swear I've never seen a fish with such a bad attitude after one day in the tank. Shouldn't it play nice for a while, just to lure me in with its big eyes and sharp, pointed canines?
