Orange Linkia Starfish

I was able to get in touch with a marine biologist who works at my local zoo. He told me while he feels that you've narrowed the genius down that the classification is a (common name) blood starfish here is a page I was directed to and feel that this may provide more insight to what habits these starfish have as well as what they eat:

I have had mine since it was the size of a dime and hitched in on some of LR about seven months ago. Mines name is Patrick I know cliche but it just stuck. He even survived my 350+ mile move to the coast!!

That's what mine looks like.

Looking at your pic, I think mine might be the same species which is something I've been wondering for a while! I've had him 4 or 5 months and he seems to be doing great! IMG_20220428_070549.jpg

I'm glad its doing good for you. They are so colorful and cool. I had a Blue and a Orange Linkia in my previous tank. I had them 2-3 years before I had a total tank crash. I'm starting a new tank now and in around a year when my tank matures I will have them again. I just hope I have the same luck this time around.

I have what was sold to me as an orange linckia who was living in a 75g for 2 years until he crawled into an mp40 while I was at work, had to pull him out the vortech, chewed off 2 arms by the time I got to him. He got real skinny and just sat on the bottom of the glass lifeless with all his suckers inside. After losing his arms I thought he wasn't gonna make it. It's been about 2 months he has grown %90 of one arm, %10 of the other back, still a lil skinny but he's making a comeback living in a 14g nano cube for the past 2 months. Here's a pic of what he looks like now.

The bottom side of it looks very similar to mine except mine has 6 arms (or maybe I just can't see all 6 on yours)...I'd like to try a blue linckia but really doubt it would make it

He's just got 5 arms. Yea I'd like to get another blue too. Had one 25yrs ago he lived just fine in a 125 for 2years till a heater exploded. Thing is they don't have the same awesome pet stores anymore around here and I'm scared to order anything online cause of these crazy shipping companies
