I was scrolling through an angelfish thread when I came across a picture of what seemed to be an orange lemon peel angelfish. I did some research but I couldn't find a definite answer. Is this its own species or is it just a really orange lemon peel? Also, is it reef safe and where could I buy one (if it is it's own species)? Thanks!

Chances are it was either an aberrant lemon peel, a hybrid, or the most likely answer a bad picture. Lemon peels are easily the WORST with coral so I would say There is a 90 percent chance unless you have a really mature 300 gallon it would decimate all your coral. But those above rants can be cool so keep you eyes out for some really nice ones with weird colors you can snag up!

Ok, thanks. I am just starting up a 75 gallon so I was looking for possible fish. Just to clear things up the picture I saw was the 15th post on this thread

Cherub is also great for reef tanks, I’ve got one. Here’s him with his favorite scoly

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm kinda looking for some oddballs or angels that aren't too common. Does anybody have any experience with a midnight, herald's, or yellowfin pygmy angel?

Midnights and heralds are not more common for a reason. They munch coral. Yellowfin Pygmy is because it isn’t to pretty in person. You could look at Brazilian flamebacks. Aberrant coral beutys. And the genicanthus angels in general is you want uncommon yet reef safe.

I totally didn't think about that. I like the genicanthus angels but unfortunately my tank is only 75 gallons. I was looking on blue zoo aquatics because they have a large variety of dwarf angels. Do you know anything about some of the more uncommon ones on their site like the woodheads? What about the bicolor or bluefin from la? Thanks again.

Reef safe ime is gonna be rusty, flame, flamebacks, cherubs, yellowtail Pygmy, coral beauty, and all paracentropyge.

the worst are gonna be midnight, eibli, bicolor, and LEMONPEELS by far.

I have not messed with wood head, keyhole, or interruptus.

+1 to above me. I got my bicolor from a friend who had it in a reef tank already. If it’s already in a tank with coral then it’s fine, if it’s just at the LFS you’re taking a risk and should throw some small frags into qt with it to see if it’s a killer.

Alright. Thanks for your responses. I'm thinking I may go with the rusty, black nox, or just a coral beauty.

Good choice! Coral beauty would be my vote. As you can find some cool ones. At my job we had one just this past week with a white stripe from its eye to its tail.

Careful with coral beauties. Always look at them in the store or wysiwyg. They have many different coloration ratios between individuals. I prefer the ones with a lot of yellow that basically look like a reverse flame back with stripes. I spend a good year going through all my lfs to find a coral beauty that I really liked. You may be less picky than me though!
