I have an OST who picks at the sand and often times consumes it. I feed him regularly and he is relatively thick and muscular but he eats sand - like I said. He passes it just fine as well. I'm not super concerned I just don't know what to think about it. I've had him since he was a fingerling and he's grown fast and almost at full coloration in I'd say 10-14 months.
I have the OST, a Purple Tang, a Magnificent Foxface, and an Ebili's Mimic Tang. Most of them also cruise the tank and pick at rocks throughout the day - except for the Purple Tang who spends most of her day with her reflection. They're all kept in a 240 gallon aquarium.
I feed a sheet of Seaweed every day for the four fish I have and I also feed them as much mysis / reef frenzy as they can eat twice a day.
Any thoughts on this?
