I noticed about 6 months ago what last ones like a cacoon in the middle of my Zoa Colony. About a week ago I started to notice what looks like a cobweb coming from my Zoa Colony. Today I see this coming f on what looked like a cacoon. It’s head is the only thing that pops out at this time and when I put light on it it goes back into its cacoon. It has not fully came out so this is the best thing can do with my phone for a picture. Sorry for the poor quality pic.

Looks like a stomatella, which if it is, is a great addition to the tank :).

It doesn’t appear to have a shell. It appears to be all soft tissue like a slug. If that helps any. It’s all orange with what looks like 2 white antennas over is head. And it’s orange with a few white stripes with bumps like a Alligator on its back. It is about 1-1/2” long and I just spotted another cacoon next to it about a 1/2” long. I wish I had a better camera but I’ve spent all my money on my tanks lol

Hmmm, let's page #reefsquad to see what their thoughts are :)

I appreciate it. As I’m at a complete loss. If scoured the internet looking at anything saltwater related that’s orange and haven’t found it yet. I still have thousands to look at tho lol

My gut still says some sort of stomatella, are you sure no shell? It can be deceptive. Does it go away when the lights come on or always out?

how about vermatid snail

My lights are on now and you can see it’s head moving at the opening of the cacoon. It has only pocked its head out of the cacoon about 1/4” so I’m not 100% sure. For scale the larger open zoa’s are about 1/2-3/4” in size so you can see how big this thing it hatching.

Vermatid snail.
Just looked that up and watched a video and that would explain the cobweb. Here’s a wider pic that shows the cobweb. I think your correct Salty! Do I keep them as I see 2 smaller ones grown next to it?

Ha just saw my clown that only comes to the glass when I try to take a pic photo bombed the shot. Lol

You can just pop them off with a fingernail or glue and putty.

They do irritate and sting some corals. Mine stung my blastos but not my branching monti and zoas.

So I just tried to remove them and they are more like a slug then a tube and all 3 came out of the cacoon and crawled into the rock work
They looked like a cross of these two. But all orange with a few white strips.
